Environment and Conservation Action Groups: Tatong Anglers Group
Tatong Anglers Group (TAG) was formed in 1992 from a group of fishermen who were concerned about the declining fish stocks and poor water quality in local streams.
Since then it has grown to be an active club with approximately 70 members. TAG is a family orientated club that caters for young and older members alike.
TAG is an affiliated member of the Goulburn Valley Association of Angling Clubs (GVAAC) and has representation at its meetings in Shepparton.
The organises six to eight fishing trips per year covering the full spectrum of fishing available.
Trips throughout the region usually include:
- Bundalong for Murray Cod and Yellowbelly
- Lake Eildon/Lake Hume for Trout, Redfit, Yellowbelly and Cod
- Lake Dartmouth for Trout
- Mitta Mitta River. Camping on private property and fishing for Trout in local streams and Lake Dartmouth.
Trips in the past have included charter trips to Western Port and Port Phillip Bay targeting species from sharks to flathead.
The club is actively involved with Fisheries Victoria in the planning and release of fish stocks (Trout, Murray Cod and Yellowbelly) into local rivers, streams and lakes. Members have also been involved with conservation projects on the Hollands and Ryan Creeks.
