Saver Plus is a 10-month financial literacy and matched savings program that assists people to build savings for their own or their children's education.
The Steps of Saver Plus
Eligibility
Participants need to:
1. Be at least 18 years old;
2. Have a Health Care Card or Pension Concession Card;
3. Have some regular income from work (including, cash, casual, seasonal and partner work), and;
4. Be either a parent or guardian of a child at school, or be enrolled (or intending to enrol) in a vocational training course themselves
1. Meet with Saver Plus Worker
Saver Plus Worker explains the rules of the program and savings goal is set. Complete the paperwork.
2.Open a Bank Account
Open a new Savings Account at your local bank.
3. Attend Financial Skills Workshops
10 hours of FREE money workshops to explain the basics of money management
4. Save
Make regular deposits into the account over a 10 month period, to a maximum of $12.50 a week. Keep in regular contact with your Saver Plus Worker.
5. Savings Matched / Doubled!
Reach your savings goal! Savings matched dollar-for-dollar up to $500 for educational expenses.
