Volunteering Services: Relay for Life Volunteers
Relay For Life is a fun and moving overnight experience that raises funds for Cancer Council’s vital work in cancer research, prevention, information and support. It’s also a chance for the Benalla community to recognise and celebrate local cancer survivors, patients and carers, and to honour and remember loved ones lost to cancer.
Volunteers are the key incommunity. Without them, your local Relay simply could not happen.
All Relay For Life events are organised by a volunteer committee – both in the lead-up to the event and on the day.
Our committees comprise of people from a broad cross-section of the local community, including business, health, media, marketing, tertiary students, parents, cancer Survivors and more. Committees are supported by the Cancer Council to stage their event but are also encouraged to add their own local touch. Committee members ensure everything is organised, from recruiting and motivating teams to planning.
You can also volunteer to help out on the day – anything from registering participants to handling merchandise, or even helping transport people around.the event.
