The Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES) values people who can bring different skills and experiences to meet a wide range of needs.
Whether providing on-the-ground support, assisting in administrative roles or raising community awareness through education, a variety of operational and support roles are available to volunteers.
We rely on our volunteers to provide on-the-ground support in emergencies due to natural disasters such as flood, storm, tsunami and earthquake. Volunteers also support other Emergency Service Organisations such as the Country Fire Authority during major bushfires and some units are accredited to perform road rescue.
We understand that rescue-focused roles are not for everyone. Volunteering with VICSES doesn't have to involve lights and sirens – there are important non-operational support roles that provide valued assistance to the unit and also help you to build professional skills.
